In April/May we brought our new boat up from Florida via the ICW - see my weblogs at www.sailblogs.com/member/mvmelon/ (I'll probably post another one after I've left this board.)

We used the Maptech chartkits because they are compact and organized. For the ICW it's not that bad a choice. And nowadays they provide a CD with the charts on them so you can load them onto the computer. The chartkits are reproduced from NOAA charts, since the US government doesn't copyright its charts.

I would prefer larger-scale charts so I can see further ahead than a few hours, but for organization and ease of storage, the chartkits are good.

Again, NOAA charts for the Bahamas are going to be the most up to date. Maptech puts out a chart kit for the Bahamas, as well. Or buy Print on Demand charts if you want the full size ones. They have incorporated the most recent Notices to Mariners.

We just ordered some charts (print on demand) from http://www.landfallnavigation.com/charts.html - very quick, price same as most everybody else, I think.

Also check out West Marine, Defender Industries, and Bluewater Charts. And Bluewater offers a Xerox set of Bahamas charts: http://www.bluewaterweb.com/NauticalCharts...2015&SKU=X60705
