Default Crusing in along the spain coast line

We are looking to cruise around the valencia region next year, as Marinas will be hard to get into, we were wondering what it is like to moor overnight along the coast.

Are there coves and bay which we can sail to and over night or is it pretty open.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Damian

I have no personal experience around Valencia - but we did enjoy several months around Spain's delightful Costa del Sol, nearby.

We found free & well protected anchorages in Gibraltar and Fuengirola, between Malaga and Marbella. Marina access was never an issue.

And there's Morocco. Ten miles south of Spain - but a thousand years back in time.

Spain was about our favorite place in the entire Med. Be sure to get some rest because they sure do know how to party!

To Life!

Afraid if you are looking for anchorages which might place you close to the AIC action - you'll be dissappointed.

But I would not assume all marinas in the vacinity will be packed. There are new ones being finished that they aim to open in time.

I must say I was equally concerned about marina space until I read last week that Oyster are planning a Regatta out of Valencia same time as AIC -and they've managed to get berths for all their fleet.

And I don't want to raise your hopes either by relaying this, but when the event was run in Freo way back the hype about space etc before the event was just as extreme as alencia is today.

Factually, a few weeks before the event when everyone stayed away expecting it to be packed, space was relatively easy to secure and cheaper than orginally quoted...........

Good luck

JOHN
