Default Changes in the Florida Keys

Has anyone tried updating their charts in South Florida and the Florida Keys since last hurricane season (specifically Irma)? I went out and noticed a lot of differences in what I was seeing in real life and on the charts so I updated my Navionics chip and wow, there have been a lot of changes since the hurricanes... update your charts so stay safe out there!

Great advice. It's advice we all give yet many of us seldom heed it when it is offered. We often sail out of Hillsboro Inlet at Pompano Beach and the topography of the approaches changes almost on a weekly basis.

Do you ever get across to The Bahamas? We have a favorite spot which seems to be avoided by many. Check out Great Harbour Cay. It's a fantastic hidey-hole and has a history which would make for a fabulous movie.

Yes, sailed quite a bit around Great Harbour. Love that area. And when you call it a "hidey-hole" you are very correct. For those of you that are not familiar with this area this is the current chart (which you can also view and discover at Navionics ChartViewer ) but see the attached chart screenshot below.

It is truly a nerve wracking hole to enter for the first time but we followed Navionics every time we've entered (after updating our charts of course) and it' never steered us wrong.

Really a cool spot.
