I have seen pictures of Hammer Heads in Cocos like this, but never swarms of Blacktips...amazing photo. It freaks Lori out when I tell her I would love to be on that dive.

Beautiful photo.

I was lucky enough to have a similar experience in Moorea, French Polynesia in 2002. In order to attract that large quantity of sharks a diver fed the sharks with fish and chummed the water. He was wearing an armoured suit and since I was the last diver to go down (my dive buddy had an ear problem) I was the one closest to him but without any armour (3 meters), amazing experience. but unfortunately I used back then a cheap disposable underwater camera so please excuse me for the lousy quality of the photo.

We were anchored in Fakarava two weeks ago. My wife signed up to go scuba diving with a local shop ($50 / dive with everything incl) and she said the north lagoon pass was the best dive she's ever made in her entire life! And that statement carries a bit of weight... since she's a pro nitrox instructor!

That being said - I believe diving throughout French Polynesia is fine and about as good as it gets anywhere in the world.

Come see for yourself!

To Life!

I have to agree kirk as I have dived in the Red Sea, Med, Andaman sea, Great Barrier Reef and more but my favourite dives were in French Polynesia.
