I have recently purchased a Pearson 424 with a Monitor Wind Vane, ST 1000 Tiller Pilot with lines connected to the helm.

I would appreciate it if anyone can give me the steps in getting this combination operational. The Tiller Pilot has a mounting onto the Monitor and power source. It has been operational and everything looks in good condition.

It's not really a combination. What you have are two separate and independent steering systems. You need to disconnect/deactivate one before you activate the other. It's an entirely sensible set up -- on my vanguard I have an autohelm ST4000 wheel pilot, a raymarine S2 pilot on the hydraulics and an aries wind vane.

The wind vane setup is simple enough but probably help us out with a photo or diagram or two and I'll see what I can do for you.

...is your arrangement of connection something that looks like this?

I have not yet seen this kind of arrangement on a Monitor Windvane and could it be that Monitor does not offer this arrangement?

There is the german windvane builder WINDPILOT who did think about combining the systems windvane and tiller pilot: see www.windpilot.de/en/Ra/rafoten.html and then choose the section Details and WINDPILOT and Autopilot

The windpilot site also offers downloads on the manuals, that has infos on connecting windvane and autopilot. Maybe this info helps on understanding the system.
