cruising contemplations
I am new to this group and I first must say, the great comments, advice and wealth of experience available here is priceless.
To dive right in, I am contemplating a trans Pacific cruise originating in Vancouver and culminating in Thailand. I am a relatively experience coastal sailor having owned a 45' steel ketch and now a 25' sloop, but I have no blue water experience. If this odessy becomes feasible, the boat I have in mind for the voyage is a Cooper 36 pilothouse cruiser. My planned route would be Vancouver - Hawaii - the Marshall Islands - Micronesia - the south Philippines - Thailand (Bangkok area). My nature is generally to be well prepared and cautious. I do not have a "sailing partner" but I would take a crew of one or two, preferably the latter.
I have read many excellent post here but would welcome any comments, thoughts or ideas on my specific adventure. In particular, advice on my idea for routes and the best or safest time to navigate these waters, Thanks, Robert
