Cylcone Evan pummelling Pago Pago, American Samoa?
JWTC Guam shows a intense cyclone moving onto Pago Pago American Samoa. Is there any communication with cruisers on moorings there? This creature build up quickly.
In December 6 to 10 , 1991 I experienced cyclone Val while on a mooring in that funky harbor. We experienced constant 80 kts with gust to 125 kts. It was not fun and I almost lost Sooke due to a lazy construction company not securing a huge floating PVC pipeline. This evil creature Evan show winds at 110 kts with gusts up to 145 kts. My thoughts and positive energy goes out to those brave souls still on their boats. After the tsunami that swept the harbor a few years back this will be another hard knock. I hope the Tongans on Nuiatoputapu Island have adequate warning as it is heading towards them after Samoa.
