She expects to arrive in Tortola next Friday, March 30. But her latest log says March 27, a day later than it could be. Anyway, stay tuned, and Kirk, are your there?

We just received an e-mail from Donna! She made it into Virgin Gorda on the 29th and will arrive here tomorrow!

Donna was the first person we met upon arrival in St Thomas, when we dropped our hook in Secret Harbor, five years ago. She was living aboard her Southern Cross 28 - INSPIRED INSANITY - which she'd just purchased.

Since then (among other things) Donna has: circumnavigated the Atlantic Ocean alone, earned her captain's license, peeled & barrier coated her boat, sailed solo from the Caribbean to New England, sailed solo non-stop from New England to New Zealand via Cape Good Hope and sailed solo from New Zealand back to the Caribbean via Cape Horn... all on a shoe-string budget.

Donna Lange is inspirational and I'm proud to know her.

She has accomplished more than most can only dream about.

Kirk

She's the only person to have convinced my girlfriend into going cruising, confidently.

I'll be waiting for her in Rhode Island with a big bottle of champagne.

A little more on Donna Lange...

She'll be performing next Wednesday evening (04 April) at Latitude 18 on the east end of St Thomas.

be there - Be There - BE THERE!

And... on a funny note, her boat, a Southern Cross 28, named Inspired Insanity...

It has a canoe stern and has INSPIRED INSANITY written above her hailing port VIRGIN ISLANDS...

So... when viewed from stbd her stern reads "Inspired Virgin" and from port it reads "Insanity Islands".

There's a bit of humor there anyway you look at it!

Well Done, Donna!

Kirk

Keep an eye on Donna's daily log updates - she has just come through a terrible gale.

I heard from her PR person this morning, I understand she's being guided into Bermuda this morning, first light. What a horrible storm she's gone through, and lost her sea anchor and damaged her wind vane, too.

But she's safe.

Tania Aebi also experienced her worst storm crossing the North Atlantic as her final leg home. You can't take the ocean's power for granted.

I can't find much on the web about Donna's past few days, though I've heard a rumor about some criticism of her weather routing.
