Hi Everyone,

We will be sailing up the East Coast from Florida next March and I am looking for a place to haul out a 42' Manta Cat. for complete bottom work . Can anyone direct me to a place on the board that lists East Coast Marinas ? I am not sure where we will end up but I am thinking at Least Beaufort or north of the Hurricane Zone

Also any advice / directions to Marinas anyone has used and was happy with the service and prices. Ideally close to a major airport : ) Not too picky am I

Fair Winds

Tom, here are three that we know of that we feel comfortable suggesting.

Cobbs Marina

4524 Dunning Road

Norfolk, VA 23518

Ph: 757-588-5401

http://www.cobbsmarina.com/

Email: cobbsmarina1@yahoo.com

Thunderbolt Marina

Thunderbolt, GA

912-356-3875

Brunswick Landing Marina

Brunswick, GA

http://www.brunswicklandingmarina.com/

Cobb's marina was used by a friend with a catamaran, and we saw their work. Good people, friendly, helpful. I assume their prices were reasonable because our friend looked for that.

Thunderbolt marina has a very good reputation and can handle massive boats, so your cat would not be a problem. Don't know about prices, don't think they're cheap, we've never stayed there.

Brunswick Landing marina is in a "hurricane hole". I'm fairly sure that your boat can be hauled and stored there. but you'll have to talk directly to them. Lots of Canadians leave their boat year after year. I don't think they're a bargain operation, you'd have to compare.

I used to have the name of a well-recommended marina in the Carolinas - South Carolina, I think, but I can't find it. I'll keep looking.

The issue is going to be the beam of your cat, so you need to talk with each yard about it.

If I hear of more, I'll post them.

If you want to do the work yourselves Green Cove Springs near Jacksonville FL is a cruiser favorite.

Tom, I found the other yard that can haul catamarans and came recommended to me: Sail Harbor Marina, Savannah, GA 1-912-897-2896

Sail Harbor Marina

I had to do a major housecleaning to find the #$%$Q@%^& note.
