Default Explosion in Aden

Hi All,

Yesterday evening, as some of you may have heard, Aden was rocked by a series of explosions as an arsenal exploded very dramaticaly. I was in the port area earlier yesterday and there were four cruisers anchored off the coast guard berths. For those of you who have relatives or friends sailing this way and have heard of the explosions don't worry! The berths are quite a long way from the area which went up and, as far as is known here, there were no deaths or serious injuries.

Given that elections are justa few weeks away maybe cruisers planning on visiting Aden in the next month or so should be a little extra cautious.

I will be here until just after the elections and then I am getting out for a break during Ramadan. Contact me if you are planning to call at Aden before I leave and I will gladly provide you with the latest info.

Bon voyages

Stephen

Folks,

A little more information. Unfortunately two men and two women were killed after having been hit by shrapnel. It is believed that all four were from Yemen.

Regards,

Stephen
