Southern California has had some unusual weather patterns this year which have resulted in little wind. These patterns seem to be shifting now and winds are starting to fill in during the mid day hours.
So, this weekend we enjoyed some 15-30 knot winds that lasted from 10 am till 7 pm. I must say that it was one of the best weekends of sailing Lori and I have experienced together. We even practiced some anchoring and pulling anchor in windy conditions. What we learned from this is that we need some well understood hand signals that don’t include middle fingers!
The first time we were yelling back and forth and causing lots of confusion and frustration. Lori has poor hearing to begin with and I’m known to raise my voice when frustrated or simply barking instructions…I try not to…really.
Once we agreed to some simple hand signals, the anchoring challenge was a breeze. Now we need to apply this to as many other tasks as possible.
