The quality and workmanship are fantastic. I have been to the factory a couple of times and the care that goes into every boat is incredible. The price is high, but so is the resale value.
We have frineds who have a HR 42 built in the 80's and love it. If fact, I have never met any HR owner who was not happy with their boat -- or they are buying a larger HR.
You may want to read John Neal's reasons for choosing his current HR 46 on his mahina.com/chose.html website. He owned a HR 42 and sailed it more than 100,000 miles.
Yes, we own an HR....the 40.
If you want to ask more questions about the early HR 42, the Yahoo HR-owners site is excellent and you will get a lot of responses.
