Hi all,

Hurricane Jimena reached Category 4 and could have done much more damage than it did. Apolima made a 3 day run up to Puerto Escondido from La Paz, Baja after it was projected to go through La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. As it happened Jimena didn't go through either place but landed north of Magdelena Bay and continued up the Baja peninsula wrecking havoc with the local communities.

Puerto Escondido turned out to be a good hurricane hole as is landlocked except for a 65 foot entrance channel so waves were not a factor. Jimena lasted for 36 hours here as a Cat 2 hurricane. 5 boats came adrift but suffered only minimal damage.

We would come to Puerto Escondido again for a serious storm. For further information see my blog at http://healthyboating.blogspot.com
