Default Insurance from Canada to South Pacific

Hi, I'm busy trying to get my sailboat ready for a trip this spring from Vancouver to the Marquesas then the coconut milk run to NZ. I've probably left the business of acquiring insurance longer than I should have. I've contacted a couple of the local brockers who underwrite with Lloyds. I have no offshore experience and the general rule seems to require 3 experienced crew and to pay lots of money. Does anyone know of any company who will insure a Canadian boat with a crew of two who have not made an ocean crossing before? Thanks,

I know of none, and from what I hear, the situation is getting worse. You might talk with IMIS - . www.imiscorp.com who might at least give you some insight into the insurance situation, and perhaps they can help you.

In 1986 we went cruising for a few years. After 20 years and 50+ countries and several oceans, we are STILL "cruising for a few years".

Thanks, yes it does seem to be a problem alright. How many cruisers travel with liability only?
