I am still in the dreaming stage of looking at various small cats.

In a couple of years maybe.

But now I looked at the Wiki notice on advance notification.

I have read about Australia and New Zeland as they seem to be the frontrunners.

Now I look at Costa Rica.

The question is just how does a small boat with a VHF take care of all this stuff?

Six copies of this, four copies of that, last clearing out form, last 5 ports of call, seven days notice, then 48 hours notice.

I guess I need someone to hold my hand and walk me through this one hour at a time.

Oh well. No real stress since I can't do it now anyway.

Thanks.

Hi ,

The main thing to keep in mind is that one is able to notify ahead of the minimum time called for, IE, from a place where contact can be made by other means - eg: tel, email, fax etc.

If VHF is the only alternative - contact can be attempted while standing off from outside the 12 mile limit.

As far as the forms are concerned, then it must be a question of reading, digesting and hoping that the questions have been understood.

Good Luck
