But then you have to add the weight and size of the safe they must be kept in!

The technology is certainly interesting but I will pass on it for now - until they come down in price. They will be great for small aircraft though.

But on the subject of cost, I have found nothing to indicate how long the batteries will last. If they are really long lived then there could certainly be a case for investing in them.

The shelf life of a Li-ion battery is time related--if the battery is used a lot then the Lithium Ion battery is going to bet better than other batteries, if seldom used, then a regular battery would probably be better.

We keep waiting for prices on Lithium Ion batteries to drop but I think its not going to happen for a long, long while. IMHO.
