Yes, and the test results show that an active radar reflector is a must to have.

I have one installed on the top of the mast and to my experinece out of the last 6 years, energy problems should not occur because the RTE just takes milliamperes in standby and when being activated, it's a matter of parts of a second. My 180ah battery bank does not really 'feel' the RTE working.

My experiences with and without the RTE are found in this forum under the topic "Sailing Yacht run down by freighter".

But I have a question about the Radar bands:

Who out there uses X-Band Radars and who uses S-Band-Radars?? I am still carrying a traditional radar reflector for the chance that someone with an S-Band Radar is around. Does that make sence?
