Default ocean capable??

hello all.

i am looking at purchasing a 1962 phillip rhodes designed swiftsure 33. my plan is to liveaboard...and having lived a total of 5 years in tents, this is going to be luxurious!!

my question is whether or not she is capable of ocean crossings.

(at present i reside in vancouver:future plans include japan and/or libyia)

i am not really planning on extensive cruising--more of an a-to-b affair that would allow me to liveaboard in a variety of locations globally.

she has an electrosan,so there's no holding tank. i am aware a larger yacht would perhaps be more comfortable-i really would like to know if other swiftsures have successfully completed ocean crossings, and if the general consensus here is that (given a competant skipper) a swiftsure 33 is potentially capable of trans-oceanic voyages, and what upgrades she might need in order to make this possible.

thanks ahead of time.

We consider our Rhodes designed Meridian 25 to be blue water capable. I would assume the 33 would be also, provided it was properly outfitted.

Here's a link to a Seafarer site with several Swiftsure owners -

It's sorta slow, but nmaybe you can get more definite answers there-
