I am getting ready for a new crossing using the latest version of MaxSea that has a weather routing model I am very impressed with (using empirical data from 90's pilot charts from Setsail), what I am missing to truely take advantage of the software is the polar for the boat. Have looked high and low and am hoping someone was luckier that I. Perhaps there is a comparative compilation smoewhere?

What do you mean by the "polar for the boat"?

Its a graph of wind direction to the bow against speed.... it shows you the optimum speed it various wind conditions.

Some GPS systems that are linked to the wind instruments will produce this data. Otherwise it is a manual job and it takes time.

The weather software is able to use this information to work out the optimum direction for the conditions.

The round the world racers use this sort of system to get in to the weather fronts and keep the boat moving fast.

Possibly best to get in touch with Beneteau or a local dealer.

Not sure may Oceanis owners would try to race - but you could try to find one (via maybe class association) - who if measured for IMS, they may be able to provide such to you.

Correct terminology is 'Polar Vector Diagram'.

Good luck
