Questions on sailing gear across the Atlantic!

Hi! My name is Ludvig Billström and i am on my way to the canarys on Saturday, hopefully on a boat as crew within two weeks. I was wondering what sort of weather one could be expecting on the corssing over.

Will thick thermal wear be necessary or is regular "summer" sailing jacket + pants enough.

To perhaps give a clearer view of my question, will i need Arctic Gear or Will it do with basic sailning clothes...?

Hi Matey,

Layer up.

It may not be warm initially and could be wet heading south for the trades, but once you've hit them and head west, it starts to warm up quickly.

For 80% of the trip you could possibly survive with underpants only -provided crew mix and sensitivities allow.
