Would welcome suggestions from experienced offshore cruisers to an experienced Chesapeake Bay cruiser - what are the best 2 or 3 books that are a 'must read' before going offshore for first cruise?

Beginning prep now for '09 or '10 trans-Atlantic crossing.

I live and die by Jimmy Cornell's "World Cruising Routes".

I have the 5th edition but I believe that the sixth edition is available.

You can also have a look through the Ship's Library.

Good luck with your planning and please let us know how it is going.
