Is it possible to sail up the Amazon river? I know, that at the narrows of Óbidos, 600 km from the sea, the river goes in one stream, 1.6km wide and current reaches 3-4 knots. It is not impossible to pass it upstream on an avarege sailboat with engine. What is an average current speed? I guess that there is not much wind in the forest, but the river is few miles wide so who knows? Sailing in a jungle would be neat.
I know about Duncan Ross Hobie cats expedition ( www.edge-ventures.com/amazon.htm
). Is it possible on 30' yacht?
