Sailing Venus (poem)
Sailing Venus
by Jean Flournoy
Venus, my memories of you will always last
Loved from strong haul to stern mast
So sleek, so swift, so exceedingly fast.
At first I didn't understand you
I just didn't know how
Until I watched as the sea made way for your bow.
You sail at one with the wind and the sea
And I can't think of anywhere else I would rather be.
I vision your sail's kissing the ocean blue
And I am filled with the words
"Venus, I love you.
Even though we are thousands of miles apart
I'll sail you Venus within my heart
You outlived my father
And probably me too
But together we will always be
Blue to blue.
