Hydrovane autopilot is now fixed and Jeanne celebrated this minor victory last night with a Bundy and mango juice punch. She only made 26nm yesterday and still hasn't decided whether to make a left turn after Tassie and head through the Tasman Sea towards Fiji, or go around Stewart Island off the south of NZ. It depends a lot on the prevailing winds in the next few days.

The journey is going well, with SV Nereida having rounded the southwest cape of Tasmania. She's on the home stretch!

Oops, last message shuld have read "southeast cape".

Position last night was 41.34S 150.52E and making 5 kt. Looks like she decided to head through the Tasman to Fiji.

Day 176, she's at 36 degrees 36 minutes South, 160 degrees 35 minutes East which is almost exactly halfway between Sydney and Auckland. In good spirits and loving the warmer weather.

Last heard a week or so ago Jeanne was just north of New Zealand. I no longer have the ham radio with me but the website map shows her approaching the south of Fiji.

Not much progress in the past 10 days, Jeanne is now just south of Tuvalu in the Pacific.

Since 10 May Jeanne has been without a computer, her backup unit having failed. No email is getting through, although some of it has been read to her via ham radio.

She is WSW of Hawaii at present.

Friday's Spot map shows Jeanne approaching Vancouver Harbour. I guess by now she's ashore, or very close to it.

Well done Jeanne!!

I'm surprised about the lack of fanfare as well. This is a mammoth achievement.

Seems she's not quite home yet:

Tracking Nereida

I guess they are waiting for the arrival before they roll out the fanfare.

Yep, seems like winds are light in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. So close ... oh and silly me, she's heading for Victoria BC not Vancouver. Almost there today. I bet she has quite a flotilla accompanying her.

As of 10 minutes ago she's in Victoria Harbour, just a few hundred metres from the marina ... drum roll ...

Absolutely marvellous !!
Lets have more than a drum roll - fireworks, fanfares, and plenty of celebratory bubbles at least.
Well done Jeanne !!!!!!

Yes! Congrats are well deserved!

The first news I've seen of it is http://www.winlink.org/node/694 on the winlink 2000 site. Go figure.

Hurray! For Jeanne Socrates!
