I'm totally amazed by how many actual gales we've seen in So. Cal this winter. Even more surprising was the full storm that swept across the region last Saturday. It was very quickly upon us. Here in San Diego it was just a gale and in our location winds were steady for several hours in the low 30's with highest gust recorded at 47 knots. Many moored boats ended up breaking their lines and some ended up on the rocks. Out in the open ocean, it was a full storm with heavy seas and all the associated dangers. Sadly, an ill-prepared boater had to abandon his boat during the storm:
