Default what sort of water heating

Hi Guys and Gals,

Just wondering what is the most common water heater employed on yachts these days. pardon the pun but my Woody has expired. It was a heat exchange/240v electric number. the problem is that the replacements going around are all to tall for my stowage space. My woody is only 280mm tall and the closest I have found is 305mm tall. So I have plumped for a Glind which is a straight heat exchanger, no electric element. Just wondering what else is out there to consider?
Cheers

Propane usually, what the kiwis call a "califont".

I can't really run gas as I have no way of exhausting the heat.
