Default Which sailing school?

I have both ASA and US Sailing in my area. Is one better than the other?

My plan is to take basic courses locally, then do a live aboard for more advanced classes. Is the smart?

Thanks

Depends on how you learn best. I took a couple ASA courses, then did some race crewing on other people's boats. Then I bought a boat. The ASA courses gave me the confidence to go up to the captains on race night and say I knew a halyard from a sheet, but that's about it. You're going to learn much more by getting out on the water on your own or on race night than you are from a course, except the theoretical stuff and that comes from books pretty well...
