Backing into a slip is a useful skill, but it takes some practice to do it well.

"The slip that you allocated to me is too small. Can I have another please."

That Marina should not have been there in the first place. It was an accident just waiting to happen !!!

From the Cruise Ship .... Scotty, I need more power!

From the motoryacht at back ... I can't hold her together much longer, Captain!

From the master to the chief engineer, "I told you the shipyard fitted the prop the wrong way round."

Slightly off topic.............

I was on a ship in the early '70:s which "fell" into a hole in the water on the Wild Coast between Port Elizabeth and Durban. Most of us will have heard of these freak waves off the S.A. coast but I can tell you they really happen. Anyway, woken in the middle of the night by alarm bells ringing I dash up to the bridge to find then master already there. "What should I do sir?" asked I, the young and green cadet. The master looked scornfully at me and without breaking into a smile produced the epiphany of great British humor saying, "Make a cup of tea laddie and make it strong as it may be the last one you get."

Now it seems funny but the at the time it did nothing to improve my take on the situation.
