I plan to sail in the Classic Malts Cruise next month and was wondering if anyone has done it before and has any advice.

I will probably be in Glasgow a day early so if there are any don't miss sites that would be appreciated.

There are still a couple berths available at a very reasonable rate ($100 US per day). The boat, a Skye 51, is a UK registered charter boat with all the necesary equipment and documentaion.

If anyone is interested I drop me an e-mai and I will send you the link.

I spent 4 weeks on the same boat in the Carribean this past winter and can highly recommend it.

Also if anyone has a just kilt they don't use anymore in a size XXL let me know.

Hello Sammy,

Had a look at the website : HERE

Could find no mention in the entries listed for a "a Skye 51"

Presume that the charter boat is the "SkyeLark" ?

I know, they have to sell 3 more berths to be able to make the trip. Dan said he should know by the end of the weekend if they can do it. I am hoping they can find a couple more guest, it would be disapointing to not be able to go after all the time I spent convinceing myself to do it... and pleading with the boss for the time off. Their delivery company is a sponser of the ARC so getting a late entry to this event shouldn't be a problem.

There is another boat advertising berths but they are considerably higher priced, and like I told my friend last night it just wouldn't be the same. I also suspect that the other boat isn't a registered charter boat because they don't include a link to a website in their ad.

I have been e-mailing everybody I know that might be interested but for a lot of them taking 2 weeks off is hard to do.

And then there is the cost of the overseas flight from here.

Problem for me is most of my friends that are avid enough sailors to do a trip like this don't have the money and most of the ones that have the money aren't avid sailors. The couple that are both are also married and their wives just don't understand what a milestone a trip like this would be in a mans life, if only there was a way to work in some golfing, golfers are just about as crazy as sailors when it comes to their sport!

I am optimistic though, my busy season at work is in the summer and this is the first time in over 25 years that I can get a vacation in the middle of July so I'm figuring that Devine Intervention has taken a hand in this already!
