Cpes And Epoxy To Strengthen Old Wooden Boat

Hello all,

we are about to take a deep breathe and add CPES AND EPOXY to a cold molded hull. OUr yacht has a lot of soft spots in the interior of the hull and we first thought of adding small sheets of ply and gluing and screwing them into place after treating the wood with chemicals to kill the bugs. Now we are not sure that this will be strong enough. What ever we do is not for ever - just until we save enough to take her to a wooden shipyard and repalce the cold mould mahogany.

so any ideas on the Cpes or the plywood.?

Hi , first do not take a deep breath - Epoxy is allergenic - especially to those who have used it before.

Also depending on the depths of the "soft spots " and the reason for them. You may be able to give your cold molded hull a much longer life by following the instructions.

Using the same system, I made a temporary deck rot large area repair to a Jim Browne Trimaran some 18 years ago, it was still A1 after 16 years in the sun.
