Well, I did it. Started a new job in Irvine and am presently living aboard. Lori is still in NoCal finishing her degree over the next month and I'm preparing the boat in Long Beach.

My first night on board was during a down pour of rain with which I discovered a few new leaks in the 3yo teak deck...and of course one of them was above the bed. It is also very cold...at least cold for California 40F. Nonetheless, I love it!

Ahhh! where did that leak start ??? That is the question ?? Who said water can't run up hill ?

Which is worse finding the source, or finding a rat ?

Richard

I'm pretty sure I know where the leaks are coming from. We replaced the old hatch with a new stainless steel hatch. When we bed it, we used the wrong compound, ie, silicone. Everyone that I've talked to about silicone says they are only getting 3 years life from their silicone as well.

I'm planning on trying a new blend of industrial urethane.

The good thing about using silly cone is you can free the hatch.

How about 5200 - it don't leak but you will need a back-hoe to get the hatch out.

Trim,

Just a warning, but on boats! When there is a leak you can move to another berth if you wish. It will just follow you, and Richard is right. It will run uphill to find you in the middle of the night........
