Looking For Robert Van Ast

My husband Robert Van Ast started at around 10th July 2007 a trip on a catamaran with a name like "Walkabout" from Richards Bay (South Africa) to Inhaca (Maputo, Mozambique).

The last time he made contact with me was on 20th July 2007. He told me that he was in Inhaca and there is no cellphone reception. He assisted a couple, Adolf and his wife) to repair their engine. After that he was to return to Durban (South Africa) by bus. He never arrived in Durban.

Is there any one out there that has any news on my husband's whereabouts?

I am worried sick and would appreciate all the help I can get.

Thank you very much

Ursula Van Ast.

I'll pass this on to the local radio nets.

As this is not a missing yacht or missing crew overboard I will move this topic to the "Poop Deck" for now. The marine radio Nets will attempt to contact the "Walkabout" to see if they know anything. However, it appears as if this person disembarked from the vessel some time ago.

I presume from the initial report that Robert was on land in Mozambique returning to South Africa by bus. Therefore is there a reason to look for him at sea ?

Have the South African Embassy in Maputo been asked to assist ? Can some one go to Inhaca to

check - it is only 20nm across the bay from the capitol ?

Suggestion : a phone call to (27) 011 326 1700 - these people run all sorts of water related activities out of the Inhaca Island Lodge and have daily charter boats coming from Maputo.

Email infoATsportstravel.co.za - request to check on the Cat - "Walkabout" ?

Richard

Great news , I will put out a "Stand down" call to S/Y Mojo presently in Inhaca looking for the Cat. "Walkabout"

PS.

Reminds of the Australian story when the Queen was visiting the outback - she hit her thumb with a hammer, went "walkabout" , was not seen for a couple of days.
