During the Great Tsunami on Boxing day 2004 Michelle Pippen spent a terrifying hour up a tree watching her house wash away and she then walked to Telaga Harbour Marina to find that yacht "Simpatico" had sunk as well.

Within days of that catastrophe she was on a yacht ferrying food and medical care and supplies to Aceh Province in Northern Sumatray (which had seen the greatest loss of life and damage)

Subsequently Michelle put her life together and set up a yacht brokerage - first year was a struggle - then latterly she has earned a good broker's reputation in Langkawi - Malaysia. (http://www.pippenmarine.com/)

This morning I heard that she has just fallen of a yacht on the hard standing at Rebak marina (also in Langkawi) she apparent suffered fractures to both arms and a broken nose ( a stanchion broke as she was climbing aboard). She is in Alor Setar Hospital on the mainland opposite Langkawi Island.

I would be happy to send messages to her, she will need some some support even though she is one tough lady.

Hello.....That sounds like a particularly nasty fall. Michelle has had her share of the action in the past few years. I can't imagine what it would be like to be around when a tsunami of that size came through. Please pass on my regards and best wishes. I'm in Hobart Australia. Out of interest, I'm familiar with Pippen Marine through the web, but had no idea about who owned it. I hope it continues to be a successful business and Michelle recovers enough to keep it on the rails. Regards....Tel.
