Hi,

I recently had a mooring laid and found that getting information about contractors etc.. wasn't so easy.

So I built this site: http://www.swingmoorings.com in the hopes of creating a reference on this topic.

It uses google maps and mooring owners can publish their spot for rent sale or others to use...

Improvement comments are welcome, any comments welcome.

cheers,

cs

It a good idea...I really hope it becomes a place where mooring info can be found.

A few problems with the site though...I kept getting a "stack overflow" error.

Map looks much like the airmail grib request.

It sounds like a good concept, and looks like a good site, but I did not find any information.

Is that because it is new and nobody posted any yet? Or am I lookiing in the wrong places?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi,

Thanks for having a look.

1. The stack overflow, I'll try to replicate that, but I've never seen that happen from my end.

(Although i have a feeling this may have happened while I was making some changes and you were browsing at

the same time)

2. Lack of information, yes I just put the site up so there is hardly any data in it.

I will make it clearer on the site that users can add their mooring spots too. I'll be adding more and more

information with time. I'm located in Melbourne Australia so I've posted a couple of spots in Port Phillip bay.

I'm doing this after work hours so bear with me

cheers,

cs

publicbar / cs,

Thanks for the answers, and no problem.

Understood concerning the after hours efforts on your endeavor.

As your web site develops, you may want to contact and discuss with Lighthouse concerning reciprocity web links.

Good Luck,

Jeff

I haven't explored the site completely yet, but I did take a look at the mooring sites you pinned on the map. What i noticed is that you have to zoom in quite far to see the pins. I was wondering if there was a search function that would let you get a list of mooring areas based on a location or lat/long. I didn't find anything like that but I could have missed it. I'm kinda afraid that a search feature might take some custom web development if google doesn't have it built in. It might be worth it though.

Hi All,

I'm back and I've re invented the mooring site into a new one, it follows on from swingmoorings but with a difference, check this one out http://www.publicbar.com

(Its a localised discussion board on the map).

Comments welcome :-)
