I know we have discussed boat names in the past but it was a good while ago. I am prompted to re-start the topic as I saw a German yacht yesterday with the wonderful name of Sheik Yabooty. It probably would be impossible to register a boat with that name in many Middle East countries.
Any more cleaver and amusing names out there?

Understand that Elvis is still us ! How about 'Sheik Rattle & Roll' or "Sheik them dice n' roll em !!" or One of the greatest jazz guitarists Django Reinhardt playing the - The Sheik of Araby.
All of those would make good boat names - compared to some seen in marinas and anchorages.

The guy was a bit of a nut, eh? Why would anyone advertise to the tax authorities that he hadn't paid taxes?
My favorite was "I Dunno". When we were in Tonga the controller of the local VHF cruising net announced that an Avon dinghy had been found, would whoever lost it come to claim it. Nobody on the net claimed ownership, and then a fellow came on to say that a Kiwi boat had lost their dinghy a week or so ago, but they had left for Fiji. Our net controller asked for the boat's name and he'd have the authorities contact Fiji. The fellow replied "I Dunno", to which the net controller responded, "well, that won't work, we need to give them a boat name, at least." A lot of laughter later, everybody got it.

We just saw a fellow here in the Bay area with two boats side by side in the yacht club. Their names: Cash and Credit.

One of the best racing boats in lake Balaton is called "Sponsor Wanted".
In lat38 there was a letter from the skipper of S/V Flotsam.

There is a sport fishing club that must have very deep pockets. Their mother ship and two Bertram sport fishing boats travel to various locations, the fishermen fly down and fish.
The two Bertrams are named "Happy Hooker #", and the mother ship is called "Madam"
This picture was taken in Costa Rica, really great Marlin fishing.

If you like those type of cutesy names, the funniest one I can think of was "Hot Ruddered Bum"
I had a parasail boat named "Pair-O-Dice", kind of lame
I know a salesman who named his boat "High Pressure Sails"
Personally I think boat names should have a little more "majesty" if it is anything bigger than a runabout. Old clipper ship names are good, as are old pirate ship names. I had a boat I named "Queen Anne's Revenge", only one person ever got it. Do any of you guys get it?

Sailboats can NOT use names containing the words Wind, Wave, Walk, Dance, Seek, or Sun. Wind Walker, Wave Dancer, Sun Seeker etc....
Fishing boats can NOT use names containing the words Hook, Hooker, or Reel. Happy Hooker, Reel Estate, etc....
Unless you want to appear really lame.
I remember a guy who had an Ericson and he named it Noscire. If you cannot think of a name, no name is better than something THAT stupid. There is no rule that says a boat must have a name.
I used to do a lot of yacht deliveries. Often they were new boats that did not have a name yet. Other times the names were SO stupid that I would make up a name to use when hailing bridges and other vessels, rather than announcing that "Mama's Mink" or "Daddy's Dream" would like the bridge to open. I was partial to "Night Train". Did one long trip calling an un-named boat "AstroGlide". Caused some funny radio humor in Key West.

Many interesting and good comments here but the original question, as we already have had a serious debate over yacht names, was are there and other cleaver and amusing names out there?
In other words, names which will make us laugh or, at least, cause us to smile.
On the serious side though, I would never give a "ridiculous" name to my boat. I also believe that some countries do require a boat to be named if she is registered - even if the name is the same as the call sign.
Back on Topic - funny names folks. Keep them coming in!

The worst named boat at my marina is simply called "cinque". Which is precisely what happened to a different boat, just across the bay.

In a big marina the most seaworthy sailboat was named "Tempest". I think it was a good name for her.

... just saw a small and honestly rather ugly cabin boat with the name Â* Â* Myth Â* .
Standing far enough away from the boat we laughed for half an hour.Â*Â*
An here are two more names of very functional racing boats we saw some years ago: Â* Monday's ChildÂ* and even worse:Â* Doctor's Delay
