Channel 69 vhf is used for standby.
It is preferable to send an e-mail or contact the Marina prior to your arrival.
Sea Approach
To enter the harbour from the North:
* Stay at least 5 Nautical Miles away from the shore at Kuala Baram to avoid the sand bar. Large logs and roots maybe found for up to 8 miles seaward from the river-mouth;
* Numerous structures, generally exhibiting lights, exist in the oil and gas fields. Special caution should be exercised by boats navigating in the vicinity;
* Vessels should head for the anchorage point from where they will see the large sea horse statute at the entrance of the Marina with a red light on top (flash one every five).
* The entrance is located between the new Miri Channel light and the Tanjung Lobang light (Fl 10s 47m 18M), just in front of the ParkCity Everley Hotel.
To enter the harbour from the West:
* Vessels should aim for the marker on the parkcity beach where islocated the old transit mark.
* The entrance of the Miri Marina is marked by a large sea horse statute with a red light on top (flash one every five), located between the new Miri Channel light and the Tanjung Lobang light (Fl 10s 47m 18M), just in front of the ParkCity Everley Hotel.
To enter the harbour from the Southwest:
* From offshore Bintulu, follow the coast with a 40° course;
* Vessels should head for the anchorage point from where they will see the large sea horse statute at the entrance of the Marina with a red light on top (flash one every five).
* The entrance of the Miri Marina is located between the Tanjung Lobang light (Fl 10s 47m 18M) and the new Miri Channel light, just in front of the ParkCity Everley Hotel.
Marina Approach
Boats should stay 20 meters away from the stone walls until they enter the marina channel. Caution: a sunk barge is lying on the sea bed near the breakwater walls. Water depth is 3 metres at LLC. Pontoons D and C are for larger boats. Check the marina map.
Marine Clearance
Upon arrival, Marine Clearance needs to be obtained from the Marine Department of Sarawak, Jabatan Laut Sarawak Miri. The office is located in Jalan Kubu, Beg Berkunci No. 18, opposite the Sikh Temple, at walking distance from the Marina. From Monday to Thursday, their office is open from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. On Friday, the office closes for the prayers between 11:45 am and 2:15 pm. On Saturday, clearance can be made only in the morning and during holidays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm only. Check the Miri map to find its location.
Custom Clearance
Custom clearance should be obtained from the Custom Department in Miri, Kastam Diraja Malaysia Miri in Jalan Persekutuan. Check the Miri map to find its location.
Immigration Clearance
Passport/Travel Documents
Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of valid passport/travel documents with a minimum validity of six months beyond the period of intended stay.
Every visitor to Malaysia has to fill in a Disembarkation Card (IMM. 26). The card has to be handed over to the Immigration Officer on arrival together with the national passport or other internationally recognized travel document endorsed for travel into Malaysia. A passport/travel document is also necessary for travel between Sabah and Sarawak.
The immigration Department, Pejabat Imigresen Bahagian Miri (085-434527) , is located like the Customs in Jalan Persekutuan near the Civic Centre and the Miri City Fan.
