It has been reported that all foreign yachts arriving at Ao Chalong (Phuket) for clearance are now required to fly a bright orange flag marked "Phuket Immigration" (and a number) for the duration of their stay in Thailand - the flag shows that the yacht has reported to Immigration. That this flag should be hoisted on the yacht at all times whilst in Thai waters.

Can anyone confirm this reported new regulation?

This is not a new requirement , It was announced in 2006 - again last year a few boats complied .

The authorities have been asked to clarify a few days ago. Also question raised regarding boats that clear-in at Satun or

Krabi - plus questions regarding boats that are already in Phuket's East Coast marinas .

Once clarity is received - conformation will be provided one way or another.
