We headed south from San Francisco toward the Sea of Cortez back in May/June and turned left some place out in the midst of uncomfortable waves and a wind that wouldn't quit. Michael recorded the occasional gust of 47 during his watch; I didn't see over 42; most was in the thirties. We never did raise the main and flew down under mizzen and jib. Our crew couldn't stop grinning, but I was exhausted and cold, so we decided to visit Ensenada. I'd researched the marinas and had a hankering, so the visit was probably ordained. We've waited out the hurricane season while working on Sea Venture. It's been delightful. We've met lots of lovely folk--including Brenda from this board who came down to visit her old boat (Hey, Brenda!)--taken Spanish lessons (oh, for the young mind that learned Italian so easily and still remembers some school-girl French), and eaten some really fine food.

Wednesday looks like a good day to head south, so we'll mosey on down the Baja coast. Next stop is Cabo, where we're supposed to pick up my 80-year-old mother on Dec. 8. She's coming for Christmas and snorkeling in the islands near La Paz.

Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving in advance of the day to anyone celebrating the US feast. We'll fix something good, though I doubt I'll be up for roasting a turkey.
