We are sitting in Fakarava Atoll north anchorage waiting to head to the South end for more diving with sharks. A weather system came through that has hung around for several days now. This place is incredible!

I did a North Pass drift dive the other day and it was the most intense dive I've ever done. I ran out of air 3/4 of the way through the dive and had to buddy breath with the dive pro. The current was around 8 knots and the sharks were everywhere. Heart rate and breathing were high ! ;-)

Where is Redbopeep?

Cheers,

Ken & Lori

Fakarava!

Been there - done that! Twelve months ago!

Glad to see you;ve made the break, Trim.

We've just arrived in Vavau, Tonga... a very fine place to be on a boat.

We're on the slow track to Australia via Fiji, Vanuatu & New Caledonia and plan on spending all of 2011 gallivanting around Queensland.

Let's keep an eye out for each-other and get together for a sun downer somewhere, okay.

Our personal favorite place in all French Polynesia is Oponuhu Bay on the north of Moorea (site of the finish of the Tahiti Moorea Rendezvous) and returned many times. Be sure to take the dink across the lagoon and swim with the stingrays... it borders on a religious experience!

Have fun!

See you soon?

To Life!

Kirk

Hey Kirk,

Good to hear you are in front of us and scouting the path

Thanks for the info on Morea as that is one of our next stops if we can get some wind from Fakarava to Tahiti. Right now it is dead-calm...flat...glass.

I guess I'll do some more diving in the meantime.

We are looking at putting the boat in a trench in Vuda Point Fiji for cyclone season and then fly to weather to NZ for hiking and camping for 5 months.

We will be doing OZ and the reef the following season after Solomon Islands...at least that is how it is playing out now.
