Hello all.

My name is David and Wind Quest is the name of my boat. I am an Australian, currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am new to boat ownership and have found the forums of great interest as I progressed down the path to owning my own yacht. Wind Quest is currently in Singapore being commissioned and I hope to have sailed her back to KL by the end of the month. I am looking forward to getting to know my new boat and the area around KL with trips further afield as time permits.

Welcome aboard David.

Grab a tankard and tell us more about "Wind Quest". You are certainly going to start sailing her in a wonderful part of the world.

Wind Quest is a brand new Dufour 365. I am taking advantage of the better facilities in Singapore to have her fitted out for cruising. In the normal course of events I would have taken delivery then over time made various additions but decided it would be best to get most of the things I want done before delivery. I have had a couple of years planning for this as my move from Europe to Malaysia was delayed. As it is, it has been very hectic managing a relocation to Kuala Lumpur and a boat delivery right on top of the move. For this part of the world I have added a couple of dorade vents to supplement the standard offering. Also in each of the cabins I have added fans for comfort at the chart table and while sleeping on board. I took the removable forestay option from Dufour and also have had a track for a trisail fitted. The storm sails have also been ordered although I hope not to use them. For battery charging I am having 2 80W solar panels fitted to an arch with integrated bimini. This was a fortunate decision as I discovered on arrival here that the pontoons at Port Klang don't have power. Very much looking forward to sailing from Singapore to Port Klang around the end of the month.

David,

Welcome on board,

From your post I guess you will be working in KL - otherwise you might have considered Port Dickson with much better facilities .

We have members lots of info regarding the Malacca Strait and up into the Andaman Sea.

Regards

Richard

Welcome. I never thought that we would leave Malaysia and SE Asia, but finally we did. There is so much to see and do, you should have a wonderful time.

Port Klang, though? Dirtiest, muddiest, most polluted water I've ever seen!

Fair winds,

Jeanne
