Good Morning, *I was surfing this morning and looking for ebooks to read about nautical themes and was directed to this forum and joined. *I am a Land Locked Sailor currently. *My wife has 1.5 years left to retire and we are planning on moving to Florida and spending 8 months a year there and then home for the summer.

I have always liked to sail the several times that we have been able. *I started learning to sail in Puget Sound with the Sea Scouts in 1991. *I was a volunteer and helped out with their wood shop. *They had a full diesel shop, sail loft and an extensive fleet of boats, both sail and motor. *We would go out in the sailing dinghys with the boys on saturday afternoons and sail around Elliot Bay in Tacoma.

As I am a wood worker, *I just purchased plans to make a Taped Seam Gaff Rigged Friendship Sloop LOD 18' Beam 6'6". *Draft 39" and Displacement 2488 lbs. *It is planned that over the next year or so we will start to get out sailing legs here locally and then trailer "SWAMBO" down to Florida to play with while working and hunting for our dream boat. *Wish I could move there now as there seems to be many suitable boats available at fire sale prices in my price range.

I hope to learn a lot more about live aboard curising from this site as well as others.

This is the boat I am building. *It will have a cutter bow instead of the spoon bow as shown.

Regards,

Tom...
