From time to time i have been on this forum and asking questions. So we are back again to ask even more silly questions.
Us: Erica and Ernie, sometimes the diction and tone will change depending on which one of us is asking a question or writing a response. (we do indicate who you are talking to) we are oldest children of oldest children; think big brother and sister by training
for those who have no sibs: we are used to gallivanting in and rescuing folks or letting them fail and picking up the pieces. we can be bossy, nice, opinionated, and bloody well stubborn. We survived all the new parent mistakes and where put in the position of being responcible early so it tends to be a natural thing to assume.
We teach outdoor/primitive skills, permaculture, crafts, hands on skills, natural building, sustainability &c.
mostly, but we are pretty curious about lots of things and we tend to have thinking going on. sometimes our questions may be a bit out in left field because we are looking for an answer to a specific thing that we cant really figure out how to describe. we are book worms who will read almost anything. we like music of most types but not real loud. we like to talk and enjoy the folks we meet. We have a home built 19' junk rigged sampan and are learning to sail it.
Both of us are new to sailing under wind power and are looking for opportunities to learn sailing on cruisers (we want to eventually head out on our own) we would like to get experiance on both mono hulls and multi hulls.
We are located in Portland oregon on the west coast of North America. We have a tiny business that requires us to be on shore unless there is something else scheduled, we can schedule for trips if we have lead time to do so.
about us:
Erica is a writer, artiest, crafter, math person, physics person, English to English translator, negotiator.
She is new to boats and boating. she is trained in first aid CPR. she tends to slow down in new situations and ask for directions.
Don't let this fool you she has physical skills as well, like sewing, knitting, fencing and basket ball. she can figure out almost anything you need cut, folded, angled, beveled, or made from stuff just laying around.
Ernie: has 30 years of experiance on ships and fishing boats from owner operator to deck hand. he has sailor skills up to and including fleet coordination.
he is also trained in fire fighting (shipboard, space to space, special materials, air craft, wild lands, structural), damage control (above and below water line), hydraulics low pressure and hi-lo systems, welding, basic rigging, basic mechanics, basic electrical, corrosion control, first aid, cold water survival, etc. some of the skills might be a little rusty but will shine up fine. he is a hands on direct connection to the brain kind of guy. builds things, researches things, fixes things, makes stuff, reads about a thing and builds it, tends to not sleep much, is a pretty good cook (some folks say) and is not the communicative one. yes Ernie talks and can communicate however if bored will go find something to do. He also is disabled and walks with a cane this tends to slow him down a little because he cant run to a situation (this is probably a good thing).
If you would like more detail about us and what we do
www.ernieanderica.info is our website.
We will be putting up a post in the crew looking section of the forum as well.
so hello every one hope this finds you all happy and healthy.
E and E
