Default Hello from Finland/Bahrain

Hi everybody!
I'm new in this Forum,
and haven't been sailing long either. Hopefully
it is not too late to learn and i was thinking if
you guys could help me on the way

Just got an H-boat this summer and i have been enjoying
every minute on the waters!

I'm planning to sail from st. maarten across the atlantic on march 2014
with 65 ft Swan. If you have any tips for me
or you want to share
your experience and knowledge with me concerning
the trip - every information would be highly appreciated.

Cheers
Anu

Welcome Anu; you could not have chosen a better design for learning (and general fun) than the legendary H Boat. Sailing one of these will give you a great appreciation for sail trim, wave action, wind position and strength and, of course, it will keep you almost permanently wet when heading to windward in almost any conditions.

Great training for an ocean trip on a 65' Swan (Wow!). I have not crossed the Atlantic but I am sure there are those on the Forum who will offer some sound advice and comments. Meanwhile here's an interesting link for the first timer.

Best wishes.

Hello Bruce and Brenda!

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words

Yes I think I was lucky to end up with the H boat - and
actually not lucky because I had the opportunity to get
a lot of information about boats from people much more experienced
than I am.
So I am very gratefull for them and for the club also in my home town Tampere,
Finland
http://www.nasijarvenpurjehdusseura.fi/etusivu.php

And of course to my intructors here in Bahrain who introduced
me to the amazing world of sailing !

Without those wonderfull people my life would be very different than it is today

And Thanks Bruce for the link - I will defenately look in to it!

Cheers
Anu

Aloha Anu,

Welcome aboard! Looking forward to hearing about your trip. Will this be your first major passage? How many others are going?
