You're going to have a great time.
How long is 'The List'?

I really look forward to following your adventures.

I think the lists for boats remains endless. they are works in progress for as long as they exist, unless abandoned.

I got two new alternators in, fixed one of the bilge pumps, and we started moving stuff back on board today. I think we might go out and anchor off an uninhabited island for the weekend.

Well, I'm back. after two years of part time refitting in a terrible place to refit, the boat is again habitable. We put the house on the market, and moved onto the boat a month ago. We're finishing up a lot of little remaining on-board projects, getting ready to go sailing. We had no clue how much work this boat needed when we bought it, but now I doubt there's a square foot of the inside of it that I haven't physically been in contact with. It's starting to feel like home. We have a gypsy life planned for the foreseeable future. 8 months a year sailing around the Caribbean area, and 4 months of hurricane season in a travel trailer in the Rockies. We just finished the first four month in a trailer ( Caravan) stint. Looking at the Bahamas for next month, hopefully. Meantime, living on board in a marina with a steady stream of cruisers going through. Three boats and us in at the moment.

Wow. Now that's inspiring, someone who actually got to the end of the work and is taking off on the adventure. Well done!

Thanks, but I can't take credit for getting to the end of the work. We realized that in an old boat like this, and perhaps in any boat, the work is never really completed. There will always be something else to fix/replace/modify. Boat is full of parts for planned projects.
Recognizing that time was passing, and we aren't getting any younger, we decided to not put off the cruising part and to just GO.

We don't NEED to replace the radar before going. We don't HAVE to finish the design on a new hard top, and replace the RIB and davits with a Porta Bote etc. We might look like the Beverly Hillbillies coming into an anchorage for a while, but so be it. No more excuses.

Doesn't hurt that we REALLY want to get out of the Turks and Caicos, either.
