Hi,

I am a 50 year old English guy with wife and 12 yer old son, we has been living in Germany for the last 12 years, I will at the end of June be made redundant and at this moment in time a bit miffed with what has been going on in the world as I have worked hard.

When I was a teenager I used to sail Mirror and Skipper dingys with my father, we then built a small Sea Wych kit boat and sailed in on Windermere in the lakes, England.

I have a house in England that is rented out, and I currently rent a flat in Munich, now I have the time I was looking at getting back into Sailing starting with some lessons on the Bavarian Lakes with the end goal of taking around a year off and to purchase a Motor Sailer and start a life for a while on a boat, my wife and son are both up for this and I have a boat load of research to do.

Thanks for listening

Dave

Welcome Dave,

Sorry to hear about your employment situation but you do seem to see some opportunity in the bad situation. Good luck with your plans. Feel free to ask any questions you like regarding the cruising lifestyle and enjoy yourself.

Keep us posted regarding how your plans develop!

For now, pull up as pew and enjoy and ale and the banter of our friendly crew

// Stephen

Welcome to Cruiser Log!

Sorry about the world situation's impact on you--but it seems to have revived your interest in sailing. That's a wonderful thing. Sometimes the best things come to us in this way.

Good luck on refresher sailing lessons and getting your wife and son into sailing as well. We look forward to hearing about your early sailing adventures (small boats and whatnot) and then what you do with your long-term plans.

Best to you,

Brenda and David
