Hi All

I enjoy reading all the different posts on this site. Compared to some of the "stink boat" (as my dear old dad would call them) sites this community keeps a positive and upbeat vibe. I think we can all learn from the "go with the flow" kind of outlook that those who rely on the elements must adopt. I'm at the busiest point of my life with kids at high shool and commitments to my parents but Im quite certain that at least some sailing, hopefully cruising will feature in my life in a few years. Until I have the time to sail every weekend, I find my local sea rescue group a great way to learn many skills from more experienced boaties. I crew with them regularly and have been in many more places and in more challanging weather than I could safely experience in my 4.8m boat. So far the highlight of my apprentice deckie experience was assisting a cruiser which had struck rocks and was sinking. A salvage pump was transferred (with experienced crew) and the boat managed to just make the boatlifters. It was back in the water 4 days later having avoided further damage.

I guess I enjoy the links to the individual sail blogs most, my wife chuckles and says I have large dreams. That may be so but you have to dream it before you can begin to do it. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Smooth sailing

Good to have you aboard! How can we get your wife to share the same big dream?

Cheers,

Ken
