Trying to complete my list of Tingen Designs
Hello,
New at this CL!
I am trying to make an overview of all sailing yachts designed by the Dutch yacht designer the late Henk Tingen (1939-1980) mostly build by Kok shipyard in Vinkeveen. Allready found a lot of them but still looking for the yachts which where exported to the USA and sold abroad.
Regards,
Martin

If you can find anything more about a shipwright in the same area known as Dirk Klein, that would be appreciated.

Hey,
Derk Klein was a yachtbuilder in the North of Holland building the steel Vanguard series as far as I know designed by DickKoopmans.
What or about what type would you like to know for I have acces to a big database of Dutch yachts!
Egards,
Martin

The Dutch have always made yachts of exceptional quality and design. I have a Franz Maas Breeon class, rolled steel sloop. I love my yacht.

Del's yacht is a Vanguard. :-)
In fact it looks just like the one below, only it's red.
Koopmans 43, Vanguard
Koopmans design #416 seems to match this yacht fairly closely.
http://www.dickkoopmans.nl/designs/6050/.html
According to a reply on this page, "Only the 9.5m Vanguard was drawn by Koopmans, the other sizes are by Eckert, not a well known architect."
http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/met...t-20619-2.html
Hope that helps in your search Del.

I have a boat that was built by him. Chiara Stella, originally launched as Moonwalker, built in either 1980 or 1982 depending on the papers that you believe.
It's a Vanguard 1150.
The more information you can provide, the better!
Thanks,
Del

That's very similar to mine but a little longer. There is the addition of a second head aft and a bit of space reduction in the galley/pantry area but other than that the build and layout looks identical.
They've even retro-fitted the same model Yanmar as I had fitted recently.

Sandettie sounds like the original name which was build for a Belgian owner; I can remember that name from the zeventies racing from Breskens the place where the shipyard Frans Maas also was.

Martin

Del,
To find more information go to the following Dutch site:
De site voor watersporters | ANWB Watersport or anwb.nl/watersport
Than go to Botenmarkt and choose Nationaal Botenarchief there you can search on Vanguard. It is all in Dutch but you will find pff's to download!
Regards,
Martin

Thanks Maver, and thanks also Haiqu. (Khamsin is a sister ship).
Sandettie was laid down in 1963 and launched in 1964. She has a significant history having been built for James Napier-White for the specific purpose of racing in the North Sea and for contesting the Fastnet race in the UK. It is highly likely that she campaigned in your area and that you saw her racing off Breskens.
The owner created the Middle Sea race aboard this boat. The Rolex Middle Sea Race is now one of the most prestigious sailing races on the planet. My dream is to sail Sandettie back to Malta for the 50th anniversary of the first running of the race.
I hope the following is of interest: Rolex Middle Sea Race: Latest News
How it all began - timesofmalta.com
There are photos of Sandettie on my profile and I add these for interest. The top one is of Sandettie at Cowes Week in 1966. (Can someone tell me how to resize the photos I have added to my profile album....I'm photo re-size challenged).
