Just picked up the complete set of RYA Day Skipper Theory materials off Gumtree for $150.00 plus shipping. Not a bad deal. The young lady selling them did her Competent Crew cert and radio licence then got distracted with life.

She's in WA Squizzy, if you ever need crew.

Still up in theislands bopping around... Playing with sea lions and doing the odd bit of fishing. Had to raise the wifi up the mast to get a connection.
Something I have found over the years, Hard to find people who when weather turns to shite are willing and able to go Oh well and read a book for a day or two. Most are like caged lions.

Yes, if it wasn't for beer and television I suspect most people would be stark raving mad. Or maybe because of it?

Fishing sounds like fun, keep on keeping on mate.

Just increased my offer on the catamaran from $70k to $75k but the seller is definitely holding out for the advertised price of $80k.

Lemme see ... the engines are run out, it's illegally moored in another country that's currently under martial law, the mast is lying on the beach unsecured and the deck has soft spots that need fixing. Naah, definitely not worth it.

Lol. Had a moment this morning when spincter clasped. Charts and iboating and plotter all said 2.8 and we touched....2.1 is my draft. Lucky was doing a couple of knots and a slow rising keel made asoft touch.
Backed out and progressed with a lead weight and sounding rope from bow.

Sounds like the instrument offsets need a bit of tweaking.

Nah.. Two grandaughters live here so we have spent time wandering around the Museum with a good display on shipwrecks and a brilliant 3d movie on the discovery of the HMAS Sydney and the Kormoran. Underwater footage. Then up the top to the Sydney memorial. Then of course one all ways needs to peruse the range of goods at BCF.....Which always leads to a wack to the plastic.
We did a look around at Brolos crayfishery. Nattered to heaps of Cray fishermen and guys that work around here.
Leaving in the morning for the trip back to Mandurah. Going to do a coastal hop down from here.

Back in Mandurah. 900 nm trip. last bit of trip was the only real narly bit. With two hours to go to round the southern cardinal marker on the James Service reef in blows an non forcasted 6mtr sea. Turned the two hours into five as current is northerly Swell was westerly and wind was southeasterly. Made for a very ordinary last few hours to the trip..Old girl wallowed surfed waddled and made a meal of it. Ran on first reef on heavily battened main and had engine running just in case.

And yet, there're people who just don't see the fun in sailing.

Some of my friends sure are "special". One posts a photo of the sunrise and sunset over Port Philip Bay on Facebook ... every day. Another posted photos of her garage, which she had just vacuumed.

I suppose it's better than cute cat pictures anyhow.

I'm off to my brother's place for a fortnight, starting Friday.

So where are you now..In boat or in container...Jaust about to start making a solid cabintop for Eleuthera. Found it a bit ordinary when we copped the low and some six metre seas for a while. Just scored another CQR manson 60lb anchor.

Still in the boat. The old guy I bought the container off is having trouble adjusting to the idea that he no longer owns it, and spends most days in there for up to four hours. Mostly preparing meals and eating them.

I can't empty the truck yet anyhow, there are some roof leaks I have to fix first.
