Hi,

just in case someone is in need of some parts of an 1972 built VOLVO MD 2B Diesel Engine, 25hp.

It is the first engine in our SY AQUARIA and it is still running, but coming in the ages and we think of changing to a very different diesel-electric propulsion (hybrid - more on that later in a new topic on this forum).

The Volvo engine has been very reliable, it never went off in the 17 years I own her (except once, but I forgot to refill the diesel tank ), no fuzzy electronics, but direct seawater cooling and it is still one of the kind that can be hand started!! Engine and transmission have been worked over in 1988, the dynastart in 1998 and 2008, the seawater pump was renewed in 2003.

If you are into rebuilding engines or if you need spare parts, I'm happy to give it away for almost nothing!

But it is heavy: More than 200kg - so, sorry, no worldwide shipping. More for the one who has the chance to pick it up in Northern Germany.

... a local engine specialist took the engine who was in need of spare parts.

So one part or the other of my old engine may work on on someone elses boat .

It was a lovely, dependable, rugged engine.

I know a sailor here in So. Cal in search of a rebuilt starter/generator for that engine as his is not as strong as it used to be. That is a great engine, though, and I'm glad you've found someone who can use the parts
