Hi,

I was trying to find some place to exchange the maps for Sea Clear II program FOR FREE, but I couldn't, so I opened this post.

I have some (whole Adriatic, most of the Greece, southern Italy, and some more) and if anyone needs them, let me know, I'll make the ftp:// somewhere so you can download them. Aslo if anyone has some other maps that she/he whishes to share please post it here.

Thnx

RR

Can you tell me what format they are in? Presume they could also be read using OpenCPN - in which case I would be very interested.

I would be too.

Judging from "basic charts" downloadable from SeaClear's web page, the maps are actually gifs, with an index file telling their resolution and position.

I guess it would be easy to convert them to a format known by opencpn.

Yes, you can scan any paper map, and convert it to sea Clear II map (extrension .wci) with a small program. The maps I have are already calibrated and ready to use.

Yes, they can be converted to the BSB standard (KAP files) understood by OpenCPN using the (Seaclear) Mapcal utility. Basically the WCI includes a calibration file that can be used to produce a BSB file.

There's some info in the manual wiki, it's a bit of a fiddle, good luck.

Otherwise you might be able to find CMAP charts for OpenCPN, they are passed around in the community quite a lot.

You can attach files (under 2mb) here if you "go to full editor".

As a test, I am attaching here the ENC enc_sava.zip map of Sava river.

Could you attach the East Adriatic here?

I go there in july.

I guess by Continent >> Country >>> Macro >>> Coastal >>> Ports.

Most Hydro-graphic chart suppliers often use a numbering system to identitfy charts - ie :: 3 squares x 3 squares -- all 9 squares numbered, with the square in the middle carrying the number of the chart being shown - the adjacent numbers, left and right related. Example : left square 1233 - the square 1234 - right square 1235

Have a look at Imray's website H E R E
